What is Cupuaçu butter?
We realize that many of you have never heard of Cupuaçu Butter (Koo-poo-aah-soo). Neither did we, before we sampled a piece from our supplier. We liked it so much that we had to create a new product to highlight its fantastic properties.
What is it?
It is pressed from the seeds of the Cupuaçu tree which is a fruit tree of the chocolate family, which is native to the northern Amazon. Cupuaçu Butter has been used by the indigenous peoples of Brazil for centuries as both a food product and a cosmetic. This natural butter helps to boost hydration levels and rejuvenate dry, dull thinning skin delivering true healing, and restructuring benefits, to the skin as it improves the skin's moisture barrier and offers true hydration for improved elasticity and anti-inflammatory activity . It also helps to soften chapped lips.
How does it compare to Shea Butter?
At DeColonaise Hair and Body we love love love Shea Butter. Shea has exceptional benefits for our skin except for those of us with Shea allergies. However, when compared to Shea Butter, Cupuaçu butter is lighter, has more benefits and is more emollient.

However, Cupuaçu retains 200% more water than Shea which allows for better moisturize delivery to the skin. |
