About Us
Mission
Our mission is to formulate natural, indigenously rooted hair and body care that heals and restores, while building economic self-reliance for African women through social production, cooperative distribution, and community empowerment.
Vision
To be a trusted brand that integrates personal care with economic liberation—dismantling colonial standards of identity while proving that women-led socialized production and cooperative distribution can power a thriving, self-reliant economy.
Ethos
Colonialism distorts self-perception and how we care for ourselves. We believe that personal care at its highest form is political liberation. Created under the leadership of African women, DeColonaise Hair and Body exists to reclaim our indigenous personal care-being and foster community self-reliance through four core pillars:
- Ingredients: Utilizing natural, indigenously rooted ingredients that nourish hair and skin, neutralize free radicals, and eliminate toxins without relying on harmful practices.
- Women-Led Socialist Economics: Building an economic framework based on social production and collective ownership. As the primary economic development project of the African National Women’s Organization (ANWO), our profits directly advance economic self-reliance and fund political organizing for African women.
- Environment: Prioritizing environmental protection and sustainable sourcing.
- Political Education: Using our packaging and platform to initiate critical dialogue and advance collective freedom.
